“We don’t just play jazz – we teach it, we write it, we dance it, we sing it, we present it, we photograph it, we film it, we produce it, we archive it, we record it, we broadcast it, we commission it, we celebrate it, we love it, we share it.” – Wynton Marsalis, Managing and Artistic Director, Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Mesa Arts Center’s deep partnership with Jazz at Lincoln Center continues to grow, building on a foundation laid over the last five years through the Jazz from A to Z program, which is delivered in collaboration with Jazz at Lincoln Center and ASU. The multifaceted engagement program enlivens the study of American History through jazz history and music, and brings jazz experiences to Mesa Arts Center’s stages, area classrooms and communities. While in Mesa, musicians from Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will conduct jazz clinics in area schools, community colleges and universities. To commemorate Mesa Arts Center’s 10th year at One East Main in Downtown Mesa, the three-day experience celebrates the accessibility of jazz music at the venue.
